Set between Dartmoor and the Devon coast, Dartington is a perfect centre from which to explore this area. To the south we have the south west coast with its many beautiful beaches, as well as the river Dart that leads down to Dartmouth. To the north lies Dartmoor with a totally different landscape wrapped in history with ancient woodlands and wild open moors.

Our walks will take us to a variety of settings including an excursion on foot along the River Dart, a section of the SW Coast Path (not too many ups and downs compared to some parts!) and a walk on the evocative moors of Dartmoor.

This holiday will be based at Dartington Hall, near Totnes in Devon. Once a progressive school with a strong interest in the arts, the beautiful old buildings and mature gardens remain a vibrant centre for a wide variety of creative activities for all ages. Totnes itself is well known as a charming historic town with a forward-thinking outlook. There is something for everybody here from the multitude of alternative therapies on offer to the numerous Norman, Medieval and Tudor buildings.

Itinerary (subject to change)
Day 01: Arrival and a short holiday briefing and orientation walk.
Day 02: Walk from Dartington Hall through Totnes and along the beautiful River Dart to Sharpham. A scenic walk along a gorgeous section of the river.
Day 03: A day on Dartmoor exploring the rugged moorland around Shipley Bridge. A day full of expansive views, a quaint stone bridge, burbling brooks and more!
Day 04: Today we head to the south west coastal path and walk the section between Dartmouth and Strete. There are plenty of sea views, hidden coves, unusual rock formations and the grand expanse of Blackpool Sands.
Day 05: A shorter walk direct from Dartington Hall enjoying the grounds and local area.

Walks are around 8 miles and range from a leisurely riverside walk to more demanding terrain on the moors and coast. The pace will allow for plenty of stops to take in the views. No need to rush!
Dartington Hall, set in its own extensive landscaped gardens, is a grand old building based around a Medieval courtyard. A hub for the arts and creativity, the hall is a vibrant place within a historic setting. The comfortable rooms overlook the courtyard. https://www.dartington.org/
