Epsom Downs, Surrey Guided Walk Grade: Leisurely to Moderate
Meeting on Epsom Downs, by the famous racecourse, we walk across the Downs towards Headley with far ranging views across London. We may be lucky and spot some racehorses out training on the gallops before we follow the path up through the Woodland Trust’s Centenary Wood planted in 2014 to commemorate the First World War. Reaching Headley village, we can stop at the pub for a drink before heading to the churchyard for our picnic lunch. Our return path takes us along a different route passing another part of the Centenary Wood and finally back across the Downs to our finishing point. The walk takes us along ancient tracks, through woodland and across the Downs above London.
Grade: Leisurely to Moderate 7 miles with 100m of ascent. The walk will be at a leisurely pace, taking in the sights as we go.
The walk is led by experienced guide Barbara Hamilton who lives in the heart of London and has a wealth of local knowledge.
