Explore some of the quieter Lake District peaks on this walking holiday to Patterdale, a small village at the southern end of Ullswater. There are many fabulous walks straight from the door and we will be taking in the best the area has to offer. We may head to St Sunday Crag or perhaps High Street – routes will be decided at the time taking in weather conditions, etc. Helvellyn is one of the better known mountains nearby so we may well head over there on one day as it is popular for a reason. Rachel who leads this holiday knows the Lake District really well and will be sure to choose the most inspiring routes.

We stay at the Patterdale Hotel where all meals are provided so you won’t have to think about anything except enjoying the fells. All rooms are the standard Patterdale rooms – an upgrade to a lake view room may be possible for a supplement.

Walks of up to 12 miles on a mixture of paths and rough ground with considerable ascents each day. The pace will be moderate but there will still be time to stop and enjoy the surroundings. A moderate level of fitness will be required for the ascents and descents.

The Patterdale Hotel sits at the heart of Patterdale village, at the foot of Ullswater. The hotel offers home-cooked food, a garden terrace and lounges with fireplaces.

Your guide for this holiday is Rachel Bolton, a fabulous leader who is compassionate and flexible. Rachel is a very safe pair of hands and a qualified Mountain Leader, a member of the Mountain Training Association and the British Mountaineering Council. She is passionalte about the outdoors and has extensive knowledge of the Lake District, Scotland and the Peak Dsitrict in particular. She holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and worked with children as a teacher and headteacher for nearly 30 years. She is also a qualified Alexander Technique teacher. Rachel is passionate about being in the outdoors walking, scrambling, winter mountaineering and climbing. She is currently working towards her Winter Mountain Leader qualification.

By Car: Patterdale is situated on the main Windermere to Penrith road, around 14 miles from each town. There is off street parking at the hotel. By Train: The nearest stations are Windermere and Penrith and there is a 508 bus service from both stations. If you would prefer to share a taxi around 4pm (not included) from either station please let me know.
