Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District, is a vast expanse of peat moorland bordered by evocative gritstone edges, weathered by the elements. On this walk, we will explore the classic route from Edale heading up Grindsbrook Clough to reach the top, littered with tors of all shapes and sizes. We head towards Kinder Low trig point before descending via Jacob’s Ladder, the start/end of the Pennine Way.
This walk will be at a slower pace, making Kinder Scout accessible to more people. We won’t be rushing anywhere and you will hopefully be surprised at how achievable the walk is.
Grade: Moderate 8.5 miles 540m ascent. This walk is moderate but with challenging aspects. The ascent involves a section of steep boulders where you will need to use your hands to help you. It is not as difficult as it first appears. Although we will be taking it slowly, a reasonable level of fitness is required for this walk.
