Quantock Hills: Holford, Bicknoller Post and Smith Combe Grade: Leisurely to Moderate
The guided walk starts at the picturesque village of Holford, just beyond Nether Stowey. The village is surrounded by delightful combes. The walk heads off through the ancient woodland of Hodders Combe and Lady’s Edge, then up onto the Quantock ridge at Bicknoller Post, from there we walk to the trig point overlooking the Bristol Channel and Exmoor. The route then drops down through Smith Combe and follows part of the Coleridge Way back to Holford, passing Alfoxton House where Wordsworth lived with his sister Dorothy at the turn of the 18th century. It is a lovely walk and will be enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
Grade: Leisurely to Moderate. The walk is 6 miles with some gradients involved totalling 200m.
