Women at the Heart of London Guided Walk
Join us on a fascinating guided walk through the heart of London as we delve into the stories of women who have influenced our lives, the City of London and its history.
This walk will have a number of stops to look at the blue plaques, houses and memorials to women from the 1st century onwards. From well-known women like Boudicca to the more obscure, we will discover the characters who have shaped our modern lives. It is not a brisk yomp but more a leisurely journey through some wonderfully varied areas of the city.
We will meet at Westminster Underground where we begin our day looking at the recently unveiled statue of Millicent Fawcett. The route then takes us along the Embankment and over Lambeth Bridge to the south bank before returning to Whitehall and heading up towards Soho and Bloomsbury.
Along with the historic sites related to women in the city we will also take in the London Eye, New Scotland Yard and the Foundling Museum.
Walk Details: 4 – 5 miles. Linear walk from Westminster underground station to Russell Square underground station. Grade: Leisurely
