Edale Kinder Scout East: Madwoman’s Stones
£35.00
Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District, is a vast expanse of peat moorland bordered by evocative gritstone edges, weathered by the elements. On this walk we will venture away from the edges to explore the interior of Kinder, a journey that involves rough ground and a sense of adventure.
From Edale, we will head up to the plateau which looms above via one of the many well-trodden paths. On reaching the top, we will head towards the eastern edges and head off piste to the assembly of gritstone rocks called Madwoman’s Stones. After appreciating the views, we will head along the northern edge of Kinder before turning inland and heading to the trig point in the middle of the moor. From here we will plot a route back to the southern edge before choosing a suitable path for our descent into Edale.
Grade: Moderate 8 miles 540m ascent. This walk is moderate but with challenging aspects as we walk off path for part of the day across rough ground and peat moorland. A reasonable level of fitness is required.
