This year’s February break is based in Coalport on the River Severn in beautiful Shropshire and within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. Ironbridge was at the very heart of the Industrial Revolution and there are plenty of museums detailing that period and a landscape reflecting this industrial past.

The immediate area forms a unique landscape where steep, forested terrain merges with industrial heritage sites. Further afield, there are moorland paths and rolling hills to explore. Walks may include Much Wenlock, Little Wenlock and the high point of The Wrekin on the glorious Shropshire Way.

There are two walks on offer each day, one leisurely walk up to around 6 miles and a longer walk of around 8 – 10 miles.

We stay at the Ironbridge Coalport youth hostel where we have exclusive use with shared and single occupancy rooms available, including a small number of ensuites.

We have our own cook on site and the holiday is full board. There is a 2 course evening meal and breakfast and packed lunch are provided.

£685 in a single occupancy room / £90 per person discount in a twin shared room / £120 per person discount in a triple shared room (3 sets of bunks per room so you have nobody above/ below) If there is nobody to share a room, the single occupancy price will be applied or you may cancel. Price includes: 4 nights' full board hostel accommodation; 2 guided walks to choose from each day; 2 qualified walking guides; transport as required; cook and kitchen helpers Not included: insurance; personal expenses; travel to venue
We will have sole use of the 3* Ironbridge Coalport youth hostel situated on the banks of the river Severn within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. The hostel sleeps 82 but there will be around 22 of us so plenty of room to relax. There are a small number of ensuite rooms and other rooms share showers and toilets.
There are 2 walks on offer each day - one leisurely and one low moderate plus. The leisurely walks are up to 6 miles with minimal ascent where possible. The low moderate plus walks will be up to 10 miles with around 400 metres of ascent on most days. You need to be reasonably fit to enjoy the walks although there is always time to take in the views and rest along the way.
The guides for this holiday are Clare Kelly and Debbie Walker, both qualified Mountain Leaders with many years of experience. Clare owns Her on a Hill and you can read more about her here Debbie is a qualified mountain leader who loves meeting new people and being in the outdoors, whatever the weather. She has guided trips to Kilimanjaro, Inca Trail, Great Wall of China as well as many UK mountains and long distance paths.
The nearest train station is Telford which is about 6 miles away. We can organise a shared taxi for anybody arriving around 4pm. There is a private car park for anyone coming by car.
